bootSunday, September 17th

10am-5pm - Newbie BootCamp
5pm - 7pm - Cocktail Reception
Fee: $45 per person

Newbie BootCamp was created for those just starting out as a traveler. We remember going into our first few assignments having never done it before, with next to no knowledge of what the concept of traveling as a healthcare provider entailed. This workshop covers the basics of healthcare traveling that are not covered in the main conference. Topics include essentials for 'hitting the road', tax basics, contract negotiation and handling difficulty situations while on assignment. BootCamp is also recommended for those traveling less than 2 years as there are still so many questions to answer!

Newbie BootCamp is also useful for partners or friends who will be supporting the traveler. It is $45 per attendee, whether you are a traveler or partner/spouse/traveling companion. This includes coffee breaks and a Cocktail Reception afterwards. Lunch is not included. Newbie BootCamp qualifies most travelers for 4 CEU's.

Session Topics for 2017: (subject to adjustments)

  • Contract Negotiation
    • What's negotiable and what's not? What are important details I need to have in my contract that can protect me on assignment?
  • Avoiding the Pitfalls:

Communication barriers have contributed to disparity in medical services in this at risk population. It has been documented that communication errors can contribute to poor patient outcomes. Health care professionals who can learn to speak basic Spanish phrases can increase their confidence and competence to provide quality patient care.
